Hillary Sklar serves as the hatchery technician for the Shellfish Research Lab on Skidaway Island. She joined the unit in 2022. Sklar’s duties include culturing diverse species of algae to use as food for bivalves and caring for and ensuring the health of shellfish at varying stages of life. Additionally, she has been working with local partners and restaurants to assist in recycling oyster shells that will later be used for restoration projects.
