Brunswick
Sydney Williams serves as the Nature-Based Solutions Specialist at the Brunswick station. Having joined the program in September 2024, Sydney brings technical expertise surrounding coastal restoration ecology as well as natural and nature-based infrastructure to Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant’s team. She works alongside an expansive network of partners to coordinate the study, design, and implementation of projects that aim to simultaneously benefit coastal communities and enhance ecosystems.
Born and raised in Georgia, Sydney was first inspired by her home’s coastline when she visited Jekyll Island’s 4-H Center as a young student. She has since trekked around Georgia’s salt marshes and other coastal ecosystems for nearly a decade to support and lead research efforts. Sydney has a doctorate in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida and never hesitates to get muddy! In her free time, Sydney enjoys visiting (and of course swimming in) the beautiful waterbodies of the southeast and spending time with her large, loud, and loving Georgia family.
