Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant’s Shellfish Research Lab is filling 4,000 oyster bags for an upcoming oyster reef restoration project, and we need your help! Join our staff at Priest’s Landing on Skidaway Island to help shovel and bag oyster shell from 12:30 – 3 p.m.
Please note: this is a strenuous activity involving shoveling, repetitive bending down, and other physical activity. Volunteers are advised to bring a water bottle, gloves, and bug spray. Volunteers must be 18 years or older to participate.
Location: Priest’s Landing, OSCA Rd, Skidaway Island, GA
Directions: When you get to Skidaway Island, turn left onto McWhorter Drive from Diamond Causeway. Drive for ~2 miles before coming to a fork in the road. Instead of going left towards the UGA Aquarium, take a right at the fork onto OSCA Rd, and drive for about half a mile to get to Priest’s Landing. At the end of OSCA Rd, take a right through the open gate and you will have arrived at the destination.
