The Georgia coast is filled with special habitats and animals, but when you look closely, there is even more than meets the eye: Patterns are everywhere! Come on a journey with Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant’s Katy Smith and Jake Henry from Savannah Tree Foundation to discover patterns and symmetry found in nature. Ms. Smith will guide participants on a virtual tour through a coastal freshwater wetland, highlighting vegetation and other features that are a source of inspiration for biologists, artists and mathematicians alike. Mr. Henry will share from his collection of leaves and other coastal specimens while highlighting the important role trees play in the coastal landscape. The session will conclude with a demonstration of tips and tricks to create your very own plant press using everyday items like cardboard and paper. We look forward to sharing as we explore Georgia’s amazing coast!
