Did you know the scientific name for blue crab, Callinectes sapidus, means “savory beautiful swimmer”? Or that a horseshoe crab is not a “true crab”? Learn all about crabs along the Georgia coast during this family crabbing event at the UGA Aquarium. We start the program inside, sharing information about blue crabs and visiting our touch tanks to explore the diversity of crabs on the coast. We’ll then head outside for a catch-and-release crabbing lesson on the dock behind the facility.
