UGA Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant is offering a free Shellfish Aquaculture Training course this summer.
The state of Georgia is working to expand shellfish aquaculture opportunities, and the training program is open to anyone interested in learning more about oyster and clam farming. Topics will cover farming techniques and strategies, the process for obtaining a shellfish lease and best practices for business planning.
The 7-course program will be offered every Wednesday from 5-7 p.m., starting July 20, 2022, and running through August 31, 2022. The training will be offered at the Shellfish Research Laboratory on Skidaway Island and is limited to 20 individuals. The course will include a Saturday field day (date to be determined).
