SUMMARY:From Farm to Reef: Oyster Aquaculture and Restoration
DESCRIPTION:Register\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for a morning of exploration on Georgia’s oyster aquaculture efforts! The morning begins with a guided tour of the UGA Shellfish Research Lab\, where you will witness the bustling process of spawning and growing oyster seed for local farmers. Next\, travel by boat with researchers from the UGA Shellfish Research Lab and marine educators from the UGA Aquarium to learn about oyster farms in the Bull River mariculture zone and oyster reef restoration. Along the way\, experts will share insights into the vital role oyster reefs play in improving water quality\, providing habitat\, and mitigating coastal erosion.     \n\n\n\nRegistration is required and includes admission to the UGA Aquarium. Children ages 10 and up are welcome but must be accompanied by a registered adult. Tickets are nonrefundable.   \n\n\n\nSpecial Notes:     \n\n\n\n\nAll boat activities are weather-dependent and require appropriate and adequate footwear and clothing.   \n\n\n\nUGA boat captains reserve the right to cancel boat programs in the event of unsafe weather conditions. DESCRIPTION:Every Tuesday throughout June and July\, visitors to the UGA Aquarium will have special opportunities to see our ambassador turtles up close during feeding\, sunning\, or soaking sessions! Get a special look at animal husbandry in action as our diamondback terrapins\, box turtles\, spotted turtles\, and more enjoy their essential care routines. Don’t miss these unique moments to observe and learn about these incredible reptiles.   \n\n\n\nAll ages are welcome\, but children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.  \n\n\n\nTurtle Tuesday programs are included in the cost of admission to the UGA Aquarium. Registration is not required\, but please visit the front desk to purchase an aquarium ticket before heading to the program.
