SUMMARY:Salt Marsh Science Field Adventure
DESCRIPTION:Spend a few hours exploring the marsh with a marine scientist! Join us for a program featuring Sydney Williams\, Nature-Based Solutions Specialist with Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant. Williams holds a doctorate in environmental engineering from the University of Florida\, where she studied the role of ribbed mussels in salt marsh ecosystems. \n\n\n\nThe program takes place at the UGA Aquarium on Skidaway Island\, where Williams will begin with an overview of her salt marsh research. Participants will then travel by boat to nearby salt marsh sites\, so be prepared to get muddy! Along the way\, experts will share insights into how Georgia’s salt marshes improve water quality\, provide critical habitat and help mitigate coastal erosion. \n\n\n\nRegistration is required and includes admission to the UGA Aquarium. Children ages 10 and up are welcome but must be accompanied by a registered adult. SUMMARY:Marine Debris Cleanup on Wassaw
DESCRIPTION:Register Here\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHelp Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant to clean up the north end of Wassaw Island! This program happens just in time for spring cleaning to prepare for the arrival of nesting sea turtles and shorebirds. Participants will travel by boat to embark on the cleanup journey after an informative introductory presentation on marine debris. We will be joined by Shorebird Biologist Allie Hayser from Manomet Conservation Sciences who will provide tips on how to protect visiting shorebirds while enjoying coastal areas. \n\n\n\nParticipants will be provided with buckets and gloves. They will also receive their very own Trawl to Trash bag! \n\n\n\nRegistration is required and includes admission to the UGA Aquarium. Children ages 10 and up are welcome but must be accompanied by a registered adult. Tickets are nonrefundable.

SUMMARY:Sea Dawg Trawl
DESCRIPTION:Register\n\n\n\n\n\n\nClimb aboard the UGA Aquarium’s research vessel\, the R/V Sea Dawg\, for a trawl in Wassaw Sound! Participants will actively contribute to marine sampling efforts by working alongside marine educators to collect\, sort\, and identify a variety of marine organisms collected as part of the trawl. All data collected contributes to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ marine inventory record\, supporting long-term monitoring of local species. \n\n\n\nThis program also introduces Trawl to Trash\, an initiative aimed at preventing marine debris from entering coastal ecosystems. Participants will learn about the negative impacts of marine debris on wildlife and habitats and explore the use of Trawl to Trash bags\, created from recycled shrimp nets\, to collect and remove debris. Each participant will have the opportunity to construct their own bag to take home and use for collecting trash along Georgia’s coast. \n\n\n\nRegistration is required and includes admission to the UGA Aquarium. SUMMARY:Behind-the-Scenes Aquarium Tours
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEver wondered what goes on behind the scenes at the UGA Aquarium? You’re in luck! Spend the afternoon exploring our exhibits before learning what it’s like to care for our ambassador animals during tours led by aquarium staff. Participants will gain access to areas not typically open to the public. Animal feeding might also be part of the tour.     \n\n\n\nRegistration is required for all participants ages 3 and up and includes admission to the UGA Aquarium. All ages are welcome\, but children under 18 must be accompanied by a registered adult.
