Before You Visit
If you have questions about accessibility while planning your visit, please contact the aquarium at 912-598-2496 or by email at mared@uga.edu.

Parking
Parking for aquarium visitors is available at no charge in the lot directly in front of our building.  Two accessible parking spaces are designated for visitors with limited mobility. Visitors traveling to the aquarium by bus or large camper may park in the designated bus parking at the far end of the parking lot (the right side of the parking lot, as you approach the building).

Wheelchair Access
We have one complimentary wheelchair available at the Front Desk on a first-come, first-served basis.  Users must leave a photo ID as a deposit to check out a wheelchair.

The aquarium has two exhibit levels.  An elevator lift is available to allow for access to the lower level.  The elevator lift dimensions are 36 inches wide by 54 inches long. The door opening at the top of lift is 35 inches wide. The door opening at bottom of lift is 33 inches wide.

Restrooms
The aquarium has two restrooms designated for public use inside the main building.  Additionally, there is a wheelchair-accessible restroom available, which includes a fold-down infant changing table.  There are no outdoor restrooms.

Water Fountains
A wheelchair-accessible water fountain is located in the aquarium lobby, complete with a water bottle filling station.  There are no water fountains located outside the building, however there is one soda vending machine located behind the aquarium, as you exit toward the nature trail.

Service Animals
Service animals are permitted for visitors that require them. Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Service animals must be harnessed, leashed or tethered, unless these devices interfere with the service animal’s work or the individual’s disability prevents using these devices. In that case, the individual must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal or other effective controls.

Emotional support, comfort and/or therapy animals are not permitted inside the building.

All dogs are allowed outside on the Jay Wolf Nature Trail, provided they are on a leash.  The trails are open from sunrise to sunset, and available for public use.  All visitors are responsible for cleaning up after their pet.

Strollers and Changing Tables
Strollers, diaper bags, and backpacks are allowed in the aquarium.  We have a family restroom which includes a fold-down changing table.  The elevator lift is not intended for stroller use; however, strollers may be parked in the aquarium lobby if visitors do not wish to carry them to the lower exhibit area.

Jay Wolf Nature Trail
The aquarium has a nature trail on property available for all guests. A portion of the short trail is ADA compliant, accessible by wheelchairs and motorized scooters.

The Interpretive Cabin is a historical structure renovated in the early 2000s to preserve its original features. Access the cabin using either a short set of stairs, or a wheelchair-accessible ramp that is 35 inches wide. The two cabin door thresholds measure 31 inches and 35 inches wide.
