Billings serves as a Coastal Ecology Research Technician with Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant’s Coastal Ecology Lab. He joined the lab as an intern in 2021 and is now a staff member working primarily on research surrounding translocated gopher tortoises and native plant communities within their habitats.

Billings is originally from southern California, but has spent most of his life in southeast Georgia where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in biology with a concentration in coastal ecology. In his spare time, he loves to explore Georgia’s amazing ecosystems and practice some roadside botany.
