This program is SOLD OUT.
Join us at the UGA Aquarium for an Ocean to Table program focused on oysters! Not only are these shellfish delicious and nutritious — they also play a vital role in maintaining healthy coastal ecosystems by providing habitat and filtering water. During this hands-on program, you’ll learn about oyster aquaculture research at the Shellfish Research Lab, see live oysters up close, and engage with experts in seafood safety and food science.
Our friends from Tybee Oyster Company will be providing Georgia grown oysters and leading a shucking demonstration, while guests learn about the environmental factors that influence their flavor. Jackie Ogden, County Extension Agent with UGA Cooperative Extension, will also join us to share seafood health benefits and tips on how to safely select and prepare seafood. The program will wrap up with a cooking demonstration and tasting of a classic oyster stew.
Registration is required and includes admission to the UGA Aquarium. Tickets are nonrefundable.
