Associate Director of Education

This Public Service Faculty position is responsible for strategic leadership and operational oversight of the UGA Marine Education Center and Aquarium. The role oversees daily operations, including supervision of faculty and staff, facilities, vessels, and vehicles, while ensuring compliance with institutional policies and effective budget administration. This position serves on the Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant leadership team and leads the design, delivery, and evaluation of marine education and outreach programs aligned with unit priorities and National Sea Grant initiatives. The position fosters collaboration across university units, government agencies, and external stakeholders, and represents the organization at professional and public forums. Additional responsibilities include guiding strategic planning, supporting development initiatives, securing external funding, and integrating education initiatives across multiple locations. The position requires demonstrated expertise in informal education leadership, program development, and team management, along with strong communication skills and a deep understanding of coastal and marine issues, particularly those relevant to Georgia’s coast. This is an administrative, non-tenured public service faculty appointment in the public service faculty career ladder at the University of Georgia. The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of Public Service Assistant Associate, or Senior Public Service Associate.

This part-time position serves as food prep and service worker for meals served to student and university groups participating in education programs at the Marine Education Center and Aquarium on Skidaway Island. This position adheres to set guidelines, policies and time schedules set by the direct supervisor, the Chef Manager. This position must follow appropriate procedures related to food quality, portion control and presentation, and provide excellent customer service.

Program Specialist

This full-time position will provide administrative support to the Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant team at the Brunswick facility. The position will also provide assistance in maintaining the facility and associated vehicles, vessels and grounds, as well as support ongoing extension, research and outreach programs as needed. Successful candidates should have professional administrative experience, communication and organizational skills and a high level of professionalism.

Socioecology Research and Engagement Fellowship

This one-year fellowship offers recent college graduates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in interdisciplinary research, community science, environmental education, GIS, and coastal engagement while living and working on Skidaway Island near Savannah, Georgia. The fellow will contribute to research on environmental literacy and community resilience while also leading marine education programs, public outreach, and community engagement. On-site housing will be provided.
