Behind The Scenes Volunteer:
Requirements
- 18+ years of age
- Must have availability Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
- Able to dedicate several hours twice a week
- Comfortable with strenuous work and able to lift 50 lbs
- Undergo and pass background check
Duties: (may include but aren’t limited to)
- Cleaning, feeding, tank maintenance, water quality
- General animal husbandry
- Would be welcome to participate in other volunteer opportunities around the aquarium, such as assisting with programs, aquarium/touch tank docent, special events, and outreach programs.
UGA Aquarium Docent:
Requirements
- Volunteers must be 18 + or accompanied by an adult while on campus
- Able to dedicate a few hours on Mondays, Wednesdays or Saturdays
- Must pass background check
Duties:
- Assist visitors at the touch tanks
- Provide interpretation in front of aquarium tanks and exhibits
Public Programs Volunteer:
Requirements:
- Must be 18+
- Able to dedicate time on Tuesdays 9:30 a.m. -noon or Thursdays 9:30-10:30 a.m.
- Comfortable working with families and Pre-K age groups
- Must pass background check
- Assist with set up and teaching of family field trips, ages 5 and up
- Assist with set up and teaching of family Pre-K aquarium explorations
