The Savannah community experienced ‘A Fishy Affair: Malicious…but Delicious’ on September 24 to benefit Gray’s Reef National Marine Sanctuary Foundation. The sold out event educated and entertained the audience with a dinner that consisted of 415 pounds of lionfish cooked up by four of Savannah’s prominent chefs.
Guests also saw an award-winning short film and were able to preview the Gray’s Reef Ocean Film Festival. In addition, the evening included a complimentary signature cocktail, a live lionfish tank courtesy of the UGA Marine Education Center and Aquarium, live music and an auction.
Images of the event are available from Savannah Morning News. Media before the event included WTOC’s Mid-Morning Live, Southern Scene, Connect Savannah, Do Savannah and more.
The 230 attendees included Mayor Edna Jackson, representatives from Senator Perdue and Congressman Carter’s offices, community leaders and philanthropists.
The response was overwhelmingly positive, with specific feedback from guests enjoying the educational component of the evening, the high levels of entertainment, the nice decor and the overall exciting energy of the event.
